Powertrain - FEA Analysis Engineer - GM

FEA Analysis Engineer
The Finite Element Analysis Engineer will perform FEA analysis for a wide variety of engine/transmission components. Responsibilities will include conducting FE analyses to assess and/or modify the structural design of these components to meet design requirements.
Specific job duties are:
 Retrieve and modify Unigraphics models of engine components to support the development of FEA models
 Generate tetrahedral, hexahedral, hybrid FEA mesh, as appropriate, to define structural analysis domain
 Identify and confirm model set-up and boundary conditions, execute analysis, and perform post-processing of FEA results
 Provide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis results
 Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management
 Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template
 Generate technical solutions for complex design problems in current, new and major programs
 Develop engineering designs (including subsystems)
 Stays abreast of new technology in FEA
Qualifications:
Basic Required
 2+ years full-time industrial experience with FEA analysis of powertrain-related systems and components
 Highly proficient with Hypermesh or equivalent FEA meshing & post-processing software
 Highly proficient with Abaqus, Nastran or equivalent FEA software
 Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 MTech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent training
Basic Preferred
 Basic knowledge of engines and transmission
 High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
 High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
 Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
 Knowledge of computer software and computer operating systems as it pertains to engineering.

Powertrain [CAE - Hybrid Analyst] - GM

Hybrid Powertrain Analyst: Responsible for the
• Application analyses(performance, fuel economy, architectural layout) of Hybrid transmissions. • Development of Tools and methods for application analysis.

• Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management

• Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template

• Generate technical solutions for complex design problems in current, new and major programs
Qualification and skill set:
 MTech or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent specialization.
 Must have worked on Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) or Electric Vehicle(EV)s during Masters or on the job
 Experience with system level dynamic modeling and analysis of highly complex mechanical & electrical systems, preferably as applied to conventional and hybrid powertrains.
 Experience with commercial/In house packages which support these activities like AVL Cruise required.
 Must have sufficient background on Matlab & Simulink.
 The candidate should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of, Vehicle dynamics(Longitudinal and lateral), basic power transfer of transmissions.

Powertrain - CAE-CFD Analyst - GM

Qualifications -- CFD Analysis Engineer
The Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis Engineer will perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for a wide variety of engine components such as manifolds, ports, pumps, and cooling jackets. Responsibilities will include conducting CFD analyses to assess and/or modify the flow characteristics of these components to meet design requirements. Specific job duties are:
 Retrieve and modify Unigraphics models of engine components to support the development of CFD models.
 Generate tetrahedral, hexahedral, hybrid, or moving CFD mesh, as appropriate, to define the flow domain.
 Identify and confirm model set-up and boundary conditions, execute analysis, and perform post-processing of CFD results.
 Provide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design. Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis results.
 Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management.
 Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template.

 Highly proficient with Fluent, StarCD, or equivalent CFD software
 Highly proficient with Ensight, ProStar or equivalent CFD post-processing software
 Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent training
Basic Preferred
 Basic knowledge of engines and engine components
 High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
