Powertrain - FEA Analysis Engineer - GM
FEA Analysis Engineer
The Finite Element Analysis Engineer will perform FEA analysis for a wide variety of engine/transmission components. Responsibilities will include conducting FE analyses to assess and/or modify the structural design of these components to meet design requirements.
Specific job duties are:
Retrieve and modify Unigraphics models of engine components to support the development of FEA models
Generate tetrahedral, hexahedral, hybrid FEA mesh, as appropriate, to define structural analysis domain
Identify and confirm model set-up and boundary conditions, execute analysis, and perform post-processing of FEA results
Provide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis results
Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management
Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template
Generate technical solutions for complex design problems in current, new and major programs
Develop engineering designs (including subsystems)
Stays abreast of new technology in FEA
Qualifications:
Basic Required
2+ years full-time industrial experience with FEA analysis of powertrain-related systems and components
Highly proficient with Hypermesh or equivalent FEA meshing & post-processing software
Highly proficient with Abaqus, Nastran or equivalent FEA software
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
Strong written and oral communication skills
MTech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent training
Basic Preferred
Basic knowledge of engines and transmission
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
Knowledge of computer software and computer operating systems as it pertains to engineering.
