Powertrain - FEA Analysis Engineer - GM

FEA Analysis Engineer
The Finite Element Analysis Engineer will perform FEA analysis for a wide variety of engine/transmission components. Responsibilities will include conducting FE analyses to assess and/or modify the structural design of these components to meet design requirements.
Specific job duties are:
 Retrieve and modify Unigraphics models of engine components to support the development of FEA models
 Generate tetrahedral, hexahedral, hybrid FEA mesh, as appropriate, to define structural analysis domain
 Identify and confirm model set-up and boundary conditions, execute analysis, and perform post-processing of FEA results
 Provide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis results
 Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management
 Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template
 Generate technical solutions for complex design problems in current, new and major programs
 Develop engineering designs (including subsystems)
 Stays abreast of new technology in FEA
Qualifications:
Basic Required
 2+ years full-time industrial experience with FEA analysis of powertrain-related systems and components
 Highly proficient with Hypermesh or equivalent FEA meshing & post-processing software
 Highly proficient with Abaqus, Nastran or equivalent FEA software
 Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 MTech in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent training
Basic Preferred
 Basic knowledge of engines and transmission
 High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
 High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
 Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
 Knowledge of computer software and computer operating systems as it pertains to engineering.

Powertrain [CAE - Hybrid Analyst] - GM

Hybrid Powertrain Analyst: Responsible for the
• Application analyses(performance, fuel economy, architectural layout) of Hybrid transmissions. • Development of Tools and methods for application analysis.

• Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management

• Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions using a standard report template

• Generate technical solutions for complex design problems in current, new and major programs
Qualification and skill set:
 MTech or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent specialization.
 Must have worked on Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) or Electric Vehicle(EV)s during Masters or on the job
 Experience with system level dynamic modeling and analysis of highly complex mechanical & electrical systems, preferably as applied to conventional and hybrid powertrains.
 Experience with commercial/In house packages which support these activities like AVL Cruise required.
 Must have sufficient background on Matlab & Simulink.
 The candidate should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of, Vehicle dynamics(Longitudinal and lateral), basic power transfer of transmissions.

Powertrain - CAE-CFD Analyst - GM

Qualifications -- CFD Analysis Engineer
The Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis Engineer will perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for a wide variety of engine components such as manifolds, ports, pumps, and cooling jackets. Responsibilities will include conducting CFD analyses to assess and/or modify the flow characteristics of these components to meet design requirements. Specific job duties are:
 Retrieve and modify Unigraphics models of engine components to support the development of CFD models.
 Generate tetrahedral, hexahedral, hybrid, or moving CFD mesh, as appropriate, to define the flow domain.
 Identify and confirm model set-up and boundary conditions, execute analysis, and perform post-processing of CFD results.
 Provide component-level and/or system-level design recommendations to Design. Responsible Engineers based on interpretation of analysis results.
 Participate in product design and development teams and regularly present analysis results to engineering peers and management.

 Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent training

Engineer - CAE (Methods Development–System Modeling)-GM

Job Description: To support Methods development in System modeling based on basic engineering principles for Engine/Transmission/Fuel Cell components/subsystems.
Desired Skills:
Good theoretical background in structural and/or dynamic analysis including FEA.
Good knowledge of solid mechanics and theory of elasticity.
Experience in Matlab/Simulink, AMESim, related tools.
Experience in programming.
Have good communication skills and able to work in a team and/or independently on the development work.
Masters in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive preferred. PhD in relevants filed is preferred.
Experience: 1 - 4 Years
Education: UG - B.Tech/B.E. - Automobile, Mechanical.
PG - M.Tech - Any Specialization, Automobile, Mechanical

Powertrain Embedded Controls: Diesel Control System-GM

Engineer / Senior Engineer/Tech Specialists
Qualification:
Ph.D/M.Tech/M.E/M.S/BE in Electrical/Computer Science/ Electronics / Controls Systems/ Aerospace/Automotive/ Mechanical engineering.
Experience: 3 to 8 years experience in Controls design for automotive systems.
Powertrain Diesel Control System Development.
 Automotive Embedded software development experience using C language, MATLAB/ Simulink/ RTW/Stateflow.
 Sound Knowledge on CI, SI Engine Management System.
 Experience in HIL test case development, scripting for Engine Management System/ Transmission Control System.
 Knowledge of CAN/GMLAN, KWP2000/ISO14229 and other diagnostic protocol is highly desirable.
 Experience in Engine Calibration is added advantage.

Powertrain Embedded Controls: HEV Control System-GM

Engineer / Senior Engineer/Tech Specialists
Qualification: Ph.D/M.Tech/M.E/M.S/BE in Electrical/Computer Science/ Electronics / Controls Systems/ Aerospace/ Automotive/ Mechanical engineering.
Experience: 3 to 8 years experience in Controls design for automotive systems.
Hybrid Electric Vehicle Control System Engineer.
Automatic Transmission Control System Engineer.

 Working knowledge in Modern/classical control theory, applying to dynamic systems [Motor, Engine, Driveline], control systems architecture.
 Modeling of conventional and hybrid vehicle powertrain control architectures in Matlab Simulink/Stateflow/AMESIM environment.
 Working knowledge/understanding of High Voltage & Low Voltage Architecture for Hybrid.

 Working knowledge in using modeling tools like MATLAB/Simulink/AMESIM, autocode generation, RTW
 Benchmarking system performance and calibrate the model.
 Develop interfaces to HIL hardware and CAN networks.
 Define HIL test plans, develop test scripts, and perform validation of control system software and hardware.
 Hands-on experience with the creation and execution of test plans and generation of test reports is highly desired.
 Topology of battery, contactor, PIMs, safety policies.
