Job Profile: This position is responsible for execution of project and generates, develops and releases designs of vehicle integration for automotive/Construction Equipment. Person will be required to have excellent knowledge of structural design for reliability & durability will be required to lead a team of engineers.
Description of the job and key result areas:
Accountable for engineering quality, delivery and cost of projects involving structural system changes after studying the product profile requirements.
Defines and develops design features, alternate design concepts for Vehicle level components to improve functionality and overall product by using design analysis methods.
Facilitates design direction discussion within engineering team and balances internal, external and supplier constraints. Works with other function as structural design leader.
Lead design review & DFMEA process @ various design phases.
Task Estimation and develop project plan in the areas of responsibility.
Desirable to have Knowledgeable trends in material, type of fixture, distortion control, Information & Knowledge management, including patent disclosure.
Interface with vendors and suppliers to locate and approve components.
Propose new VA/VE and cost improvement ideas on an ongoing basis.
Estimates and prepares plan for the activity involving sub system based on product profile requirements.
As team leader is required to keep his team motivated to meet project deadlines.
Integration of structural systems with other vehicle systems
Key deliverables / Performance measures :
Develop design concepts for vehicle, based on SOW, keeping in mind cost / quality requirements.
Detail Design from the concepts, to ensure robustness of the respective system by meeting system level CAE Design Verification Plans and Component Design Specification.
Support off shore team and coordinating on any query/clarification related to project execution. Must have worked in structural design, of heavy construction / auto OEM. Knowledge of applicable standard, DFMEA, DFM, DFA and DTC is required.
Knowledge about various testing setups, test standards and data acquisition.(Desirable) Support/mentor other engineers/designers by providing training on time saving design techniques, checking drawings for tolerance /accuracy, evaluating design concepts and assisting in analysis.
Interaction with other EPMs & SMEs to understand SOW, Target performance & deploy to respective teams.
Must have worked on Pro mechanica and have exposure to advance strength analysis packages.
Must have knowledge of material standards and selection.
Knowledge of off-highway vehicle standards & regulations (Desirable).
Knowledge of material selection including structural members, fabrication, distortion control, SMD/ FROP.
Parts to be procured by coordinating between Materials Management and vendor
Experience: If, BE : 10 (8 for ME/Mtech) or more years experience in design of structural systems.
Specific desirable experiences/ preferred knowledge areas:
Candidate should be able to develop complex design concepts into tangible, workable machine details. Position requires technical knowledge concerning design and analysis disciplines, product cost and product performance
Candidate should demonstrate a high degree of problem solving ability, especially in the field of expertise and should be able to quickly assess a problem and identify the key technical issues
Good knowledge of basic structural performance parameter, durability, life and its inter linkage with other system.
